No tour will work well unless the Guide is right. Upali was absolutely outstanding

We arrived several hours late in Colombo due to various delays on the outward flight. Despite this, and after a fairly confusing phone call to Jith from Doha our guide/driver Upali was waiting for us. We were very relieved to see him. The 3 hour transfer to our hotel in Kitulgala had to be driven through the ‘rush’ hour. There wasn’t a lot of rushing but it was a real experience enduring the driving conditions in a new country. Upali quickly gave us confidence in his own driving skills and it remains a mystery how he avoided all manner of hazards on this and all subsequent journeys.

Our alternative hotel (2 nights) at Kitulgala was fine with particularly friendly staff. The food was good.

Arrangement & planning worked seamlessly

Very many thanks, Jith for a wonderful two weeks which surpassed our expectations in all respects; also many thanks to Dilan for his good company & careful driving which has a big significance on the enjoyment of a holiday like this –we all felt safe with him 100% of the time.

Our second trip with “Walk With Jith” enjoyed it more than the first, 4 years ago.

We do not need to say how much we ador this beautiful country
But best of all we loved the birds and your very special company!

Our second trip with “Walk With Jith” enjoyed it more than the first, 4 years ago. Thanks especially for your patience and sharp eyes with out which we would never have seen the leopard, watercock and lesser adjutant- to name but a few. A super time again

The organisation by Jith being faultless without a single problem

My wife & I had 16 days in Sri Lanka in March/April this year with “Walk with Jith”. I would like to thank Jith for an unforgettable experience. It was a first class holiday, the organisation by Jith being faultless without a single problem. Though we were initially a little disappointed that we were not to be guided by Jith himself, our guide Upali Nisshanka was excellent & on the long drives between the sites, we learnt such a lot from him about the wonderful culture & traditions of the island. It was a “birds & culture” tour in which we spent time at Sigiriya, Polannaruwa, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains, Tissamaharama, Yala, Bundala, Weligama [for a whale watch], ending at Ranweli Village.

We’ve enjoyed our holiday in Sri Lanka

Overall, the standard was good but we felt that more information regarding the following would have helped:

I think mum, dad & John may well be jealous of my pictures...

Jith,

Thank you again for a wonderful tour! This time exceeds the first of second trips, probably has something to do with that amazing leopard eating its breakfast in Yala!

I think mum, dad & John may well be jealous of my pictures, I know Phil is. Phil reckons thereason we didn’t see leopard or sloth bear on our second day in Yala was because he had the bigger lense on his camera! Oh well!

It made a nice change to visit a less tourist populated elephant orphanage, they really seem to know what they are doing. I would have loved to have stayed and watched (even more there but I think dad would want me back at the zoo!)

Upali was an excellent guide, his knowledge about the birds, plants, animals and other wildlife was great

Hello Jith

I hope you are well?

Rachael and I wanted to send you an email to say Thank You for organising such a fantastic trip to Sri Lanka over Christmas. Upali was an excellent guide, his knowledge about the birds, plants, animals and other wildlife was great and made our experience even better. Despite not seeing all the endemic bird species, Upali tried his hardest to find them.

Seeing 3 leopards in Yala was the biggest highlight of the trip for me although the fruit bat roost was a very close second.

We ended up seeing 217 birds species including 31 of the 33 endemics with a top 3 of Indian pitta, pied thrush and Kashmir flycatcher.

Many thanks again for a wonderful trip

Best wishes

Sandun and Silva were excellent.

Hi Jith

We had a great time in Sri Lanka. We will definitely come again.

Sandun and Silva were excellent. They looked after us all the way. Apart from making sure that we saw all the birds, 215 species, Sandun made us understand your country by showing us the ancient sites, explaining about Buddhism, getting us to try the local fruits. He really made our holiday.

The hotels and food were all very good.

So thank you for arranging the itinerary, thanks to Silva for his excellent driving and a specially big thank you to Sandun for looking after us and introducing us to your country.

The only problem was, that at Sinharaja, we should have been staying at the Blue Magpie which was nearer to the forest and where we had arranged to meet friends, unfortunately we didn't realise until the last minute that we'd been moved to a different hotel, which was disappointing.

It was your organisation that allowed us to get such a lot out of our 20 days

Hi Jith
I told Abe that we would send feedback through to you by email – here it is.
The main thing is that Nicola and I had a wonderful time in Sri Lanka – our holiday was very successful and exceeded our expectations. You have a beautiful country with a rich wildlife and some interesting history but it was your organisation that allowed us to get such a lot out of our 20 days there. Thank you for all you did to help us enjoy so much – and in spite of us giving you only a few week’s notice.

Particular positives:
The accommodation worked very well overall in spite of the lateness of our booking, (which meant that we didn’t get what would have been your first choice). Locations were generally very good, and facilities were at the correct level for us – comfortable and clean but not too ‘precious’ or synthetic.
