I arranged a 7-day birdwatching tour for me and my non birding wife, focusing on the endemic birds of Sri Lanka. This was to be followed by a week at our chosen beach resort. All arrangements and events were dealt with impeccably by Jith and our guide “Hetti”, a very good meet and greet,  and we were of on our tour.

Our guide Hetti was superb throughout. His knowledge of all things from butterflies, dragonflies and lizards was fantastic, his binding skills were excellent. Hetti was a joy to be with, he has 25 years as a guide and this shows, all our needs taken care of, nothing too much for him. Hetti should be very proud of the service he provides.

All in all a fantastic trip in a fantastic, clean and picturesque country.

This trip will not be forgotten. No hesitation recommending Walk With Jith.

Delightful two-week tour of Sri Lanka with “WALK WITH JITH” - Approx 240 difficult birds

My husband and I have been on a delightful two-week tour of Sri Lanka with “WALK WITH JITH”. The main purpose of the tour was bird watching! - and here I must add, that I am not a birder myself!

We have had the pleasure of being guided by Susantha – the number one birder of Sri Lanka – although he didn’t mention this to us till we had known each other for a week!

The journey had been eventful in many ways! Approx 240 difficult birds, lots of mammals, reptiles and butterflies etc. And we have been introduced to Sri Lankan way of life – culture, nature, history, religion, educational system, nature preservation, agriculture – and how the society works – and how a good curry is served!

All questions answered and explained with profound knowledge, patience and a good sense of humor!

We would delightful go “Walk With Jith” again and love to travel with Susantha as the companion anytime (soon)!

Sri Lanka is truly a paradise!

Birds, Wildlife And Cultural Tour

We could not have enjoyed our first visit to Sri Lanka more. We came as near-beginner birders, with only four or five years' experience. We were a bit worried that since most of Jith's clients seemed to be hard-core bird-watchers, dealing with us would be like looking after the village idiots. But that fear dissipated once we met out guide, Thilina, who assumed we would have the same ambitions to see birds as any expert.  Here, I have to say this man is something of a phenomenon. His ability to find a bird simply from the reactions of other wildlife, or from the slightest, barely audible whistle (which we often couldn't detect) is little short of uncanny. Thanks to his skill, we saw all but one of Sri Lanka's endemic bird species. And the one that got away was the victim of abnormally dry conditions in his habitats, something we were forced to admit after Thilina led us in two and a half days' hunts. We knew that if he couldn't find it, it wasn't there.

Wonderful experience. We will come back!

Walk With Jith tours was a wonderful experience for us. Our driver Dammika was a wealth of information in every aspect. His calming, friendly manner made every part of our journey wonderful. We have nothing but praise for him and are very thankful that he was our guide for our tour of Sri Lanka.

We will come back!

Overall a very well planned tour: Upali was knowledgeable and patient as out guide. Although there was a lot of time on the road (often wind and bumpy). He drove carefully and there was time to stop when we needed or something of interest.

Kitulgala was a good place to start and although it rained some of the time, we were able to see a lot of birds. Kaudulla park was excellent both for the elephants and Roller birds and Bee-eaters.

We enjoyed the cultural triangle, particularly Polonnaruwa (close up views of birds as well as the ruins) and Dambulla cave temple. Kandy was also enjoyable although the train ride was less scenic than expected. Horton plains was one of the highlights.

Tissamaharama and the nearby wetlands were also amazing, although there wasn’t a lot to see at Bundala park (no migrants).

“Just for us” trip made all the difference

Dear (Walk With) Jith,

It’s hard to imagine a better trip to Sri Lanka for our interests; birds in particular, but nature in general, your efforts in working with my wife, Olivia, to design a “just for us” trip made all the difference. This trip focused on the south. It may take a few years before return (it’s a long trip to the U.S), But we are already talking about seeing the north of your wonderful country.

Many thanks,
Bob and Olivia

P.S. what can I say about Hetti?
If we are lucky enough to return, it would have to be with Hetti. He is a wonderful guide; He is an even better person.

Sri Lanka is a magical, varied, colorful and charming country. The cultural, historical and natural heritage is worth to discover. The variety of landscapes and natural environment is overwhelming, beaches, rainforests, national parks with an exceptional fauna, impressive forests and diversity of birds and vegetation that we had never seen before much of it endemic.

Hetti has been an excellent guide and also an extraordinary travel companion.  He has dealt with all the details and has taken care of us in every aspect. The most notable thing is that he has been able to transmit us his broad knowledge of the environment and above all, his passion of birds. For us it has been totally enriching and a great learning. (He is an excellent master of ornithology)

Itinerary masterpiece, excellent crafting, well-balanced

Walk With Jith (WWJ) is excellent of crafting a well-balanced itinerary centered around Heritage, Nature, Birding, Safari, Agriculture, Beaches, Whaling all in one island. Indeed, Sri Lanka has almost everything in one island and Jith is patient, listen to our requirement presented a valued proposition.

A good itinerary masterpiece requires an exedient executor and this is none other than Dammika. With his hawk eye acuteness and vast knowledge database and intelligence of an owl. Dammika walked through our itinerary with understanding, professionalism, client orientedness and safety. He was always on the lookout to ensure we maximize and experience the beauty of Sri Lanka.

Thank you Jith and Dammika. Hope to catch up again in our next trip

Take care !

Expert birding with culture - enabled us to do the impossible

12 Aug 2019

Walk with Jith did a great job of mixing specialist bird watching and cultural tourism, all packed into 8 days! The tour was very well planned to enable us to do the impossible: mix expert guided birding with visiting the main cultural centres.

The driving guide they gave us, Chamil, was superb at finding birds for us. In just 4 days of birding we saw 135 species including 26 of the 33 birds endemic to the island. It was well beyond anything I expected. He was brilliant as a bird guide and as a driver, but he also made a very good job of taking us to the key cultural sights that we could fit into the short time we had. He was very courteous and considerate throughout.

Hetty was always helpful and kind - Wonderful family tour

Dear All,

It has been a wonderful trip. We have spent great 20 days with a good and balanced combination at wildlife, nature, culture and leisure. We really enjoyed your country.

Our guide Hetty was always helpful and kind trying to make our vacations as easy as possible. Special thanks to him and to all staff. Nalin is a great helper, always ready to help. The driver Suranga very prudent and carefully. We were feeling very safe with him on the roads.

Same suggestions for the next families: please advise customers that doing a one-day safari is really exhausting. Parks are not well preparing with areas to rest enough. Better suggest 2 game drives even it increasing budget.

It has been a good selection of the hotels. Some of them very very pleasant with the exception of the last one. We understand however that options are more limited in this area.

All in all it has been a wonderful trip that we will keep in our memories long time.
