Met at airport by Upali taken to Goldi Sands Hotel

 

Goldi Sands Hotel

Nice room

Good Pool

Food was mediocre

Internet, a little patchy

 

Trip to market very enjoyable

 

Riverside Villas, Kandy

2 star at best

Room, large but had lots of mosquito guests!

Food, very basic. Internet, very good.

Staff, charming.

Wouldn’t want to stay there again.

 

Spice gardens v.good

Botanical gardens good

[Cultural] show interesting.

Tooth Palace interesting.

 

Train journey to Nanu Oya – very comfortable. Lots to see. A packed lunch would have been good.

 

Fern Cliff

5 star. Lovely.

Great Staff. Lovely room. Fantastic food. Attention to detail perfect. Internet OK. Packed breakfast good.

Hot water bottles in our bed, a nice touch.

Definitely, stay here again.

Grand Udawalawe Safair Hotel

Nice Hotel room.

Good pool.

Patchy internet. Bland food.

 

Udawalawe Park

Lovely half a day. Saw lots of elephants.

Upali, very helpful in finding things. Wouldn’t have seen half as much without him.

 

Hibiscus Gardens

Nice looking hotel. Nice room.

No safe in room and A/C had only 1 setting, freezing!

Staff good but definitely a language barrier.

Food very good. & packed breakfast, very good.

 

Yala 2 days

1^st day – amazing. Saw loads and a lovely lunch by the sea. V. long day, but great!

2^nd day – sadly too hot so not much to see. Cut the day short at 2.30 as just too hot.

 

Mirissa

Lovely Hotel, nice room, good pool, bland food.

 

Tamarind

Nice room, good pool.

Restricted menu but lovely food.
