Photography Tour - Wildlife, Bird & Nature

I am being met at the airport and throughout the trip, the guys have been amazing. Thillie and Indo are both very patient – especially with one non-birder – and have successfully shown us all the endemic birds as well as several mammals such as sloth bears and leopards. 

We cannot recommend Walk With Jith highly enough. 

The trip has been fantastic and there has been an easy travel around the South of the island, with everything organized for us.

Abbiamo scelto questo tour operator per la seconda volta consecutiva. In generale è stato un buon viaggio che ha accontentato quasi tutte le vostre richieste. Dovendo rifarlo eviterei di visitare Anavilundawa e Talai-Mannar, in quanto offrono poche opportunità gratificanti anche se sono siti eccellenti per il birdwatcher.

Ottimi i parchi di Wilpattu e Kumana, molto (anche se non operati). Nucca è scontato in natura alberghi

Wilpattu Tree House - ottimo cibo / ottima camera.

Agape Hotel - Mannar: Da evitare.

Lavendish Wild Safari / Wasgamuwa: Eccellente!

Bay Vista Hotel / Arugambay: Ottima camera / buon cibo.

Euro Star Hotel / Minuwangoda: Ottima camera / cibo discreto.

Il nostro autista Dammika si è rivelato una ottima guida pronta ad accontentare tutte le richieste, oltre che essere una persona amabile, generosa e affidabile.

First, my apologies for my very slow response with these thoughts after my recent tour. 

As always it was a delightful tour with many highlights. Some great birds, wonderful dramatic landscapes, comfortable accommodation, and excellent meals. (Possibly even better than last time!) This was my third Walk With Jith Sri Lanka wildlife tour and I'll be back for more. There are many places in Sri Lanka I have not been to yet, and old favourites to return to. 

My expert guides Thillina and Indunil were kind, thoughtful, and good company. Their ability to find difficult birds is second to none, and I want to make special mention of Indunil's smooth, careful driving: I always felt safe and comfortable. 

DESTINATIONS: 

We booked a 10 day birding tour of Sri Lanka with Walk With Jith. We were greeted at the airport by Jith, who introduced us to Thilina, our guide for the group and Indunil our driver. From that point onwards we were looked after at all times by both Thilina and Indunil.

We visited cloud, dry and rain forests seeing and unbelievable amount of birds. Thilina’s knowledge and experience of birds, habitats and other wildlife is second to none.

All the hotels were of good standard with friendly staff and all well located for our bird tour. We would like to say a big than you to Thilina and Indunil for looking after us with great care making our birding tour of Sri Lanka such a memorable experience and one that we will never forget.

Dear Jith, Thank you very much for organizing our second wonderful tour of Sri Lanka. Saman was a great guide and companion and he and his enthusiastic network gave us an exceptional bird list of over 200 species including all endemics and 6 owls. To top it all we had great sightings of leopards! Saman was patient with us and always displayed a good sense of humour. Most accommodation was welcoming and the food delicious with the exception of Amaya Hills, Kandy (which we will explain in a separate email).

Our only disappointment was the included cultural elements that did not happen. The main issue was the Temple of the Tooth as our arrival in Kandy coincided with the first major festival of the year and Kandy was chaotic. Other elements were missed because of timing elements.

Overall, a memorable visit that we will treasure.

A wonderful tour! We stayed at lots of great places. We saw all the endemic birds (and many others). Saw lots of other animals, the food was great and the people were very friendly. Our guide, Saman, was very helpful in every way – he found lots of birds and animals, organized breakfasts for when we left hotels early, helped us translate queries to hotel staff, and many more ways too! The recent political unrest and riots have not caused us any issues at all!

Overall, a very good trip (10/10), and if we visit Sri Lanka again in the future, we will definitely be coming back to Walk With Jith.

My Walk With Jith tour was outstanding. All aspects of the tour were excellent from the greeting by Jith on my arrival at Colombo Airport to my departure. Everything about the tour was organized to the highest standards.

My guide Dhammika was excellent. He had super knowledge of the bird life of Sri Lanka, and he shared that knowledge in a professional and friendly manner. Even on the occasional long drives we chatted freely about many things; Not only birds and wildlife but the people, the country, and the different lifestyles in different areas.

Dhammika, over the years, had also made many friends in each area/hotel we stayed at. It was a pleasure to see and share in the friendliness that existed at each stop. I was also impressed that he had the respect of local people whose knowledge of the locations of difficult-to-find birds they showed freely.

The entire trip was perfect – I knew I was in good hands from the time Susa and I started our journey. What a treasure he is!

I plan on writing a proper review when I am at home and am not too tired to think clearly in detail.

We have visited many countries in the world and have engaged several bird guiding companies. From 26th November to 08th December 2022, we have been on a tour in Sri Lanka.

The tour has been outstanding from start to finish. Jith arranged everything perfectly and responded to all of our questions quickly and totally efficiently.

While in Sri Lanka, Thilina has been our guide and Indunil our driver/guide. Both have been exceptional. They are both extremely professional, with the added bonus of being kind , caring and considerate individuals.

Our previous tours included South America, Africa and North America. Our tour in Sri Lanka has been as good, if not better, than any we have been elsewhere.

We are happy to recommend WALKWITHJITH without reservation.        

It was an amazing 11 days of bird watching and photography. 
The tour was well organized by the company, and it was beyond my expectations for the number of birds, especially the endemics that I managed to photograph. 
The main reason for the great success of the tour was, no doubt, my guide Chamil (Uddika) !! He is an extremely good guide in terms of birds and any other animals’ knowledge.  I admire his patience in any situation while taking photos as well as his great passion and enthusiasm for birds and nature. Highly recommended tours for photographers and bird watchers. 
Keep going as I believe more people will find you like me. I will be your best ambassador among the people I know.
