Wildlife Tours

We first did a tour with Walk With Jith around the South of Sri Lanka in 2019 and had the wonderful Susa as our guide. We have had two abortive attempts to return but are so glad it was third time lucky. As always Jith provided us with options on where to stay, what we were likely to see, and, as before nothing was much too much trouble. We really appreciate him and Susa meeting us at the airport and despite the recent problems in Sri Lanka we felt totally safe at all times. Not only did we stay in some wonderful hotels but everywhere we went we were greeted with interest and huge welcome smiles.

As for Susa, he is just a fantastic knowledgeable, kind, and patient guide. He spotted birds so brilliantly and also knowing of our passions also for wildlife and photography, created opportunities for both as well as many birds including endemics we saw, elephants, leopards, spotted brown cat, mongooses, 2 types of monkey, boar, 3 types of deer and crocodiles.

My Walk With Jith tour was outstanding. All aspects of the tour were excellent from the greeting by Jith on my arrival at Colombo Airport to my departure. Everything about the tour was organized to the highest standards.

My guide Dhammika was excellent. He had super knowledge of the bird life of Sri Lanka, and he shared that knowledge in a professional and friendly manner. Even on the occasional long drives we chatted freely about many things; Not only birds and wildlife but the people, the country, and the different lifestyles in different areas.

Dhammika, over the years, had also made many friends in each area/hotel we stayed at. It was a pleasure to see and share in the friendliness that existed at each stop. I was also impressed that he had the respect of local people whose knowledge of the locations of difficult-to-find birds they showed freely.

The entire trip was perfect – I knew I was in good hands from the time Susa and I started our journey. What a treasure he is!

I plan on writing a proper review when I am at home and am not too tired to think clearly in detail.

We have visited many countries in the world and have engaged several bird guiding companies. From 26th November to 08th December 2022, we have been on a tour in Sri Lanka.

The tour has been outstanding from start to finish. Jith arranged everything perfectly and responded to all of our questions quickly and totally efficiently.

While in Sri Lanka, Thilina has been our guide and Indunil our driver/guide. Both have been exceptional. They are both extremely professional, with the added bonus of being kind , caring and considerate individuals.

Our previous tours included South America, Africa and North America. Our tour in Sri Lanka has been as good, if not better, than any we have been elsewhere.

We are happy to recommend WALKWITHJITH without reservation.        

We made a 15 days tour with guide Saman. Just from the beginning to the end was perfect. The knowledge of all the birds, he find them everywhere, just brilliant!
Also the knowledge of the flora and fauna, we love it!

Vanaf dat we opgehaald warden voor onze tour met Saman, hebben we het onuys naar onze zin gehad. Saman’s kennis van de vogels en ze te vinden was onwus gaaf, Och zyn kennis over de voorhomenele dieren en planten zun geweldig. Weze tour kon niet mooier!! This trip has exceeded all our hopes! Excellent guide Athula, very good lodgings, outstanding itinerary. Local guides were very good, particularly at Polonnaruwa, where our local guide was exceptional. The local guide for our visit to the Tooth Relic Temple, not good at all. We recommend not using him again. Everyone else, guides, hotel staff, and of course Athula have been wonderful. 

The trip was fabulous.  

Thilina and Indi our guide and driver were excellent. Hotels we stayed in all were excellent – very comfortable and accommodating.  

The people we met at all the stops and sites were friendly and make us feel comfortable and safer & felt at home. There was never any concern for personnel safety. 

The birding was super. Saw all the endemics + others, Total 188 seen + heard and not migration season and we never went to the north of the island due to time of our trip. 

Archeology sites were fascinating. Walking on there with Jith was easy.  Highly recommended.

The birding travel organized by WWJ has been perfect in all aspects. 
The best birding tour possible, Saman, with an exceptional knowledge and experience in birding especially and also wildlife in general. He has been able to ride the travel without any incident, adapting the schedule when required and finding & identifying all the bird like in a masterclass. 
A very good, seasoned guide and the driver, Indunil. Always attentive to our needs, caring all the group with a safe driving and also with a very good birding knowledge and fine senses to detect them.
The planned travel along these 2 weeks has been perfectly programmed to visit the best natural places in the island for birding, but also including the key cultural locations to have a complete view of Sri Lanka.
Thanks a lot for the good job done during these days, we enjoyed a lot!
 

This is our last morning of our 12-day tour through wonderful Sri Lanka, and in a few hours, we will drive to the airport. The tour has been extremely successful! 
Not only did we see all 34 endemic bird species and a number of “specials”, but we also got to see wonderful landscapes and enjoy the hospitality of Sri Lanka people. Our primary guide Thilly and co-guide/driver Indu have worked hard and professionally to bring the tour to such a success. Thilly is extremely sharp and knowledgeable – it’s difficult to think that there are any better bird guides around!   
The logistics also worked perfectly, despite problems with diesel shortage ll over the country. All in all , we are extremely satisfied with this tour, and there is no reason to look for other organization than Walk With Jith !
